Dode Martin completed the LS powered slingshot rail in a mere 14 months, but what makes this even more impressive is that Martin is the third oldest driver holding a valid NHRA competition license.

The good folks at Holley Performance Products announced the official dates for the 2012 LS Fest in Bowling Green, Kentucky. For the 2012 Holley LS Fest, Beech Bend Raceway will again be home to some of the wildest, most powerful LS powered cars and trucks from September 7 to September 9, 2012.
No matter how jaded the drag racing audience has become over the years, it is still impressive to see a vehicle make it into the mid 6-second range. Paul Major piloted his 2001 C5 Corvette Z06 down the track resulting in an imposing 6.58 at 224.73 MPH time slip.
There is something special about watching a nostalgia racer hit the drag strip, but when that racecar is a 1953 Corvette it just becomes a little cooler. Lew Stitely is the current owner of the 1953 Corvette dubbed the “Tijuana Taxi.”
Thanks to Meziere and AFCO, our 4th Gen Camaro will keep its cool without lugging around a lot of excess weight, and we know that we’ve got dependable components that won’t require a lot of attention or maintenance; always a plus when you’re hustling in the pits between rounds.
Today’s eBay find of the day is a 2004 OEM Z06 Corvette Body and Chassis, also known as the perfect starting place for a new racecar. According to the seller the body has no (zip, zero, none, nada) miles on it and even comes with a set of door keys.
Watching a C5 Corvette run a 9.72 at 146 MPH should not seem out of the ordinary – doing it all-motor is what makes it impressive.
