The Scorpion Performance Pro Street field at the Quick Fuels NMCA Muscle Car Nationals in Bowling Green just got a little tougher.  Word has it, Billy and Shannon Glidden are burning the midnight oil at their Whiteland, IN shop to get their Mickey Thompson-backed 2010 Mustang prepared to head south and do some damage in Billy’s old stomping grounds.

The Glidden’s were noticeably absent from the Extreme 10.5 field at last weekends ADRL Hardee’s Georgia Drags VI at South Georgia Motorsports Park.  Billy reported that he’d been fighting tow vehicle issues since the Houston race that had been taking time and energy away from getting the race car ready to go.  Additionally, he has been working to get a new 528 cubic inch engine under the hood of the GTO-turned-Mustang.  The engine was acquired through a recent partnership with noted engine builder Sonny Leonard with the hope that it will put him back in contention with the 3-second hitters.

This wouldn’t be the Glidden’s first time entering their XTF entry in NMCA Pro Street. They made a surprise appearance at last fall’s NMCA World Finals in Memphis, running as quick as 6.38 at 216 miles per hour.  Their showing at this weekend’s race may begin as a test-n-tune for the new combo, but we all know that Billy never pulls into a racetrack without thinking he can walk away with the big check.
