Brodgon, Kent Bringing Two-Car Assault On Pro Stock In 2011

Following a sophomore season that saw a Top 10 finish in the NHRA Pro Stock standings, Rodger Brogdon, former Competition Eliminator racer Steve Kent, and the Racers Edge/Attitude Apparel team are looking for big things in 2011, and they’ll do so with a two-car effort in the ever-tough category.

“We learned quite a bit during the 2010 season,” said Brogdon, “and we’re really looking forward to applying those lessons to this year’s Full Throttle championship run. As a team we made changes, struggled, paid attention and were able to end the season with a strong run. Now we return with the same team, same car and will have power from Cagnazzi Racing once again. The opportunity to have an even better year is obviously there.

The Racers Edge company, makers of pain relief and energy products, was previously owned by Brogdon. Over the winter, the company was sold to Microholdings US, Inc. and the new ownership chose to capitalize on the equity that Brodgon and The Racers Edge had already founded in the NHRA and drag racing market by signing an agreement to sponsor his machine though 2012. Brogdon’s Pontiac GXP will feature an eye-catching new The Racers Edge paint scheme, while Brodgon’s other holding, the popular Pistonator/Attitude Apparel brand, will adorn the other Pontiac GXP piloted by Kent. Both cars will receive championship-contending horsepower from engines prepared by Cagnazzi Racing.

“With so many projects going on, the time that needed to be devoted to developing the company just wasn’t available to me,” explained Brogdon. ” Fortunately James Wheeler, Chairman/CEO of Microholdings US Inc., recognized the quality of the product and in turn will be able to devote the time and energy needed to continue the marketing and promotion that The Racers Edge Pain & Performance Chips deserve.

“We are a little behind schedule in getting to the track to test,” added Brogdon. “We wanted to be on track right after the first of the year, but the severe winter along the East Coast delayed some of our new parts, and then Steve and I both dealt with some health issues in January. Now the parts are in, Steve and I are healthy once again and we’ll be in Florida sorting out our new combination. Then it’ll be off to Vegas for the annual Pro Stock test session and then Pomona. I know I speak for everyone on the team when I say we are truly excited going into this race season and are looking forward to taking home our first Pro stock Wally.”

In addition to Brogdon and Kent’s two-car Pro Stock effort, The Racers Edge will assume the role of primary backer for sportsman star David Rampy on his Comp and Super Stock machines, while Attitude Apparel will return to the Suzuki Pro Stock Motorcycle of Michael Phillips.
