Jay Boddie and his family have been pillars of the West Coast drag racing scene for years as participants and as race organizers with Team Boddie Racing. Boddie helps run the Team Boddie Presents Outlaw 1/8 Racing Association that holds events all over the West Coast, and the organization isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. For 2017 Chris Alston’s Chassisworks has signed on to be the title sponsor of the series and will help give it a huge boost.
The Team Boddie Presents Outlaw 1/8 Racing Association has two primary classes that run at their events — Big Tire and 28×10.5W/275 Radial class. Both of these classes are run with the clocks off with full prep, so the racing is always exciting for the fans, like any grudge event. The rules for the Big Tire class require any boosted V8 to have a steel roof and quarter panels, while nitrous motors with a five-inch bore spacing or less can have a fiberglass body. In the 28×10.5W/275 Radial class, the rules are more open and only require cars to not use wheelie bars.
Since this series and clocks-off style racing have been growing in popularity, it’s attracted companies like Chris Alston’s Chassisworks to expose their brand to this expanding customer base. Chis Alston’s Chassisworks has signed on to sponsor the entire six-event series that is anchored off the No Excuses race that Team Boddie has done at Sacramento Raceway Park for several years now.
