Daddy Dave’s Chevy II Nearing Completion And Street Outlaws Debut

As most of you know, Discovery Channel’s hit show Street Outlaws just started its fifth season of street racing madness. Since the show first premiered, most of the “stars” of the show have raced the same car. But for one of the major players on the show, “Daddy Dave” Comstock, that’s about to change.

Daddy Dave recently received the 632 from Taylor Lastor (TRE Racing Engines). That is a thing of beauty.

We brought you news of cosmetic’s new Chevy II back in March. At that time it was at Terry Murphy’s Race Cars receiving its chassis updates and chromoly roll cage, Moser M9 housing, and carbon fiber wheel tubs. Blake and Terry Murphy worked with Dave and Chassis Engineering on the Chevy II’s chassis, and the quality of the finish product really shows. Though the car was back-halved when he bought it, the existing suspension wasn’t ready for what Comstock is going to throw at it.

Speaking of which, Taylor Lastor from TRE Racing Engines recently had the 632-inch big block Chevy on the engine dyno with a couple carburetors just to break it in. As we pointed out in our initial report, the 632 will have a pair of Proline throttle bodies, and Comstock admitted that will be a learning curve when the combo comes together. However, he’ll be relying on Steve Petty and Chris Patrick to help line things out.

The Chevy II will feature a FuelTech fuel system and engine management system. Patrick is a FuelTech supporter, and he runs nitrous on his Pro Mod Camaro, as well, so his knowledge and experience will help.

Carbon fiber wheel tubs!!! Need we say anything else.

As you know from watching the show, Daddy Dave is all nitrous, all the time. He’s sticking with the spray with a Nitrous Express three-stage dry nitrous system on the Chevy II. He’s had his fair of mechanical maladies when utilizing the third kit, and that will be needed when the Chevy II hits the streets, since the other cars on the show — especially the out-of-towners — are getting progressively quicker and faster.

In these latest images of the Chevy II, Foster Auto Body had just finished much of the paint on the car. Foster’s still has to do the Unlimited Fiberglass front end and doors, but if what the shop has done already is any indication; we can’t wait to see the finished product. Dave tells us the show is already finished filming season five, and the Chevy II will make its show debut in season six, which will air this fall.

Like you, we don’t want to wait that long to see the Chevy II in action.

This is the view Daddy Dave hopes to show everyone on Street Outlaws when the Chevy II makes it debut on the show this fall.
