The old adage, “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday” still lives on today. These days though, eBay gives retired race cars a second chance at life. You don’t have to look too hard to find a legitimate drag car these days, and it took us less than a minute to find this little gem.
How does a 632ci big block Ford stuffed into a 1988 Ford Mustang sound? Are going 7’s in the quarter-mile worth $75,000? If you think so, then check out this eBay ad for just such a monster Mustang.
The chassis comes with a 25.2 spec double frame rail, chromoly cage that was built by Montana Brothers Race Cars Pro Chassis Design. This car is a mulitiple event winner on the east coast, plus fits in with all 10.5 and heavy street rules. Car was ran in heavy street big tire classes mainly with 33x17x15 tires but is set up for outlaw 10.5 events as well. Car went 7.14 @ 194 at 3170 lbs straight as an arrow with a very mild “save parts” tune at 2008 Shakedown at e-Town heavy street qualifier.
The seller claims the car cost $125,000 to build, and that the chassis alone set him back $60,000. So, considering people will spend upwards of $70,000 on a fancy Shelby or Roush Mustang, is this seven-second door slammer (the only fiberglass bits are the hood and trunk) worth $75,000? We think so, but what about you?
