The economy may be putting a lot of racers in a bind, but the business of full-bodied race car construction sure doesn’t show it. Brian Hard, team owner for son Tyler, who campaigns the family’s 1968 Camaro in the Top Sportsman category, has taken delivery of another brand new Tim McAmis-built Camaro intended for the move up the food chain to Pro Modified.
The Hard’s first forayed into Top Sportsman last season upon acquiring their current McAmis-built car, and in short time had it running in the low four-second range. Also, at the recent ADRL event in Maple Grove, Tyler and crew picked up the “Best Engineered” award for their immaculate piece.
Brian once again called upon McAmis when finalizing plans to go Pro Modified racing to construct another Camaro, this time featuring a supercharged Hemi powerplant and torque converter combination, as opposed to the nitrous-huffing beast in Tyler’s mount. Seasoned Pro Street and Pro Modified driver Kevin McCurdy has been called upon to handle the driving chores as the Hard Racing team campaigns their new chariot in Pro Modified for the balance of the 2011 season.
