It appears as though it’s been a busy off season for John MacDonald the Motor City Motorsports crew as they stock up for a championship pursuit in the always tough NMRA Super Street Outlaw class in 2011. Motor City has prepared a brand new big block bullet that the team hopes will carry them one step beyond their disappointing second place finish in the class last year.
The shiny new powerplant is based upon a World Products block sporting a set of Edelbrock SC1 aluminum heads and intake massaged by Shaut Heads, along with Victory titanium valves,, and Total Seal gapless piston rings wrapped around a set of Diamond Pistons. Smith Brothers push-rods, Jesel rock arms, and a set of Precision Turbo fuel injectors round out the package. The bullet will, of course, be fed once again by a thundering Procharger unit.
Last season, MacDonald experienced his finest season to date in Super Street Outlaw and carried the points lead into the final race of the year in Bowling Green with his sights set on the championship ring. But untimely engine woes following a class leading 7.28 in qualifying put a short end to their weekend and opened the door for John Urist to take away the title, which he did upon winning the event. With Andrew Demarco already cranking off record numbers in testing and MacDonald bringing a fresh new piece to the table, one of the most exciting classes in all of heads up drag racing is going to get rather interesting this season.
