When Marty Pearcy rolled his supercharged Duster off the trailer this weekend during the season opener at Desert Thunder Raceway he was looking to conquer this weekend’s event, and he did so quite successfully. Right off the trailer Pearcy knocked off a solid 5.30 @ 138 mph, but he knew there was more in it. Bumping the fuel pressure up by 5 PSI was good enough to run a 5.25 with a 1.31 60 foot time which set them up in the #1 qualifying spot. The first two elimination rounds were a bumpy ride, says Pearcy, since they were trying some different things – though they were still able to make their way through and onto the finals. Going back to the same setup they had in qualifying, Pearcy wheeled this Duster down the 660′ to take the win with a 5.28 @ 138 mph. Without a doubt, the 2008 WTTTF points champion is back in the saddle again showing the competition how it’s done.

A truck-load of changes are going to be done in prep for their next race, including a new converter change, bumping the rev-limit up to 9200 from 8800 (they still made 34 lbs. of boost at 8800) and possibly a few other (secret) minor adjustments. Pearcy believes that with these changes the current setup could knock off some solid 4.90’s in the right conditions.

Don’t let the factory 340 stripe and markings fool you, this Duster runs an all aluminum 360″ W8-headed small block Chrysler that’s crammed full of boost via a gear-driven F3-123 Procharger. Pearcy thinks these heads might not be the best out there for his boosted combination, but he’s going to work with ’em for now. With a few small adjustments and successful weekends like this, lookout for Marty to be a tough guy to beat this year.
