With the Northeast the hotbed of Outlaw 10.5 racing in the United States, Mickey Thompson Tires has announced the formation of the 2014 Outlaw 10.5 National Championships series, to be held over 18 races at six different racetracks in the USA and Canada.
The Mickey Thompson Cup will be earned by the racer with the highest points total of ten races at the end of the final points race. In an interesting twist, racers will not be required to hit all 18 races, but there are four mandatory events of which a racer must attend two in order to be considered in contention for the championship – the Door Wars at Maryland International Raceway (4/11-4/13), Raceway Park in Englishtown (6/14-6/15), the USA vs. Canadian Shootout (7/11-7/13), and any race that’s held at Atco Raceway through the course of the schedule.
Rules are based around the traditional Outlaw 10.5 rules package that’s run at Cecil County Dragway‘s Street Car Shootout events that can be found here.
At Cecil County’s final Street Car Shootout event of the year, held on November 1st, there will be a Championship Points Shootout with a ladder based on the points finish of the top sixteen competitors in the class with a large planned payout, with $10K going to the winner and payouts all the way back to the first round loser.
