It seems that every weekend that a major drag racing event takes place, Neal Chance Racing Converters adds another list of winning customers to their resume, and the recent season opening NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Bradenton, Florida continued that trend.
In the premier Pro Outlaw 10.5 category, 2007 series champion Tim Essick qualified #1 with a great 6.850 at 210 MPH, just edging out fellow Neal Chance customer and reigning champ Conrad Scarry, who recorded a 6.945-second best heading into eliminations. Essick and Scarry squared off in the money round, with Essick grabbing the upper hand in a troublesome affair for both racers as he fought his way to a winning 7.56 elapsed time at 201 and change.
Meanwhile, in Super Street Outlaw, Texan Kenjo Kelley qualified fourth with a 7.42 and steadily worked his way through eliminations, first taking down Billy Driscoll followed by top qualifier Chris Tuten and reigning class champ John Urist before meeting Phil Hines in the final. with the advantage out of the gate, Hines and his 7.80 were no match for Kelley’s 7.57 at 189.
And in the high-winding Hot Street category, class kingpin Charlie Booze Jr. started right where he left off last season, qualifying atop the field with a great 8.469 at 154.18 and ultimately besting a red-lighting Tim Eichhorn with another great pass of 8.494 seconds for the win.
