Together, Eric LaFerriere and Shane Fisher parked two of ProTorque’s top-flight EV1 torque converters in victory lane at last weekend’s Radial Fest in Alabama, taking a pair of the premier heads-up eliminators and in doing so, joining a long list of other EV1-equipped racers to accomplish the same in recent weeks.
LaFerriere, who climbed behind the wheel of veteran radial tire racer Paul Majors’ familiar C5 twin turbo Corvette, marched to career best numbers on his way to a triumph in the Radial vs The World class, qualifying with a stellar 3.97-second lap down the Huntsville Dragway 1/8-mile before ultimately outpacing top qualifier Jamie Hancock in the finale, 4.10 to a 4.28.
Fisher, for his part, motored through the X275 field in his gorgeous single turbo Fox body Mustang, qualifying with a 4.47 at 166 mph before defeating the nitrous-fed Camaro of Cecil Whitaker in the final round, 4.49 to a 4.57.
Just a week prior, ProTorque’s EV1 converter helped propel Kevin Fiscus to one of the sports’ biggest paydays at the annual Shakedown at the Summit, as he collected the $40,000 top prize in the Outlaw Pro Mod class, while at Drag Week, Jeff Lutz took his twin turbocharged, Pro Modified Camaro to his second overall and Unlimited class victory with a new record average elapsed time of 6.19-seconds. Fellow ProTorque racer Bryant Goldstone also hoisted some Drag Week hardware with his Ultimate Iron victory with a 6.85 average for the week-long affair.
