On any given day, you can find some pretty cool stuff on RacingJunk, from complete cars, to engines, transmissions, parts, and even trucks and trailers. But what you generally won’t find is an entire race track to flog said cars and parts on, but that’s exactly where you’ll fine one track in Texas that’s looking for a buyer.
The Lonestar Motorsports Park, located in Sealy, Texas along Interstate 10, roughly 45 minutes west of Houston is seeking a new buyer, using all avenues — including RacingJunk — to do so. The track, a full 1/4-mile in length and currently sanctioned by the IHRA, sits on 55 acres of land and has all the amenities needed to operate — it is after all, still in operation, with weekly racing ongoing as of this writing, per track officials.
The drag strip features enclosed and air conditioned concession stands, grandstanding seating for 1,200, a two-story timing control tower, timing equipment, fuel barn, and all the usual structures and outbuildings. In all, the track has 2,100 feet of shutdown area and three turnoffs. It’s also, interestingly, located directly adjacent to the Hennessy Motorsports Engineering facility, and we’d have to imagine that makes for occasional appearances by some remarkable modified production street cars.
Lonestar has hosted the world-renowned TX2K event in years past, and is slated to welcome the Street Car Takeover this September. As well, the track conducts a full slate of IHRA Division 4 bracket racing and street/grudge night events.
The catch is that the asking price is $2.7 million — likely well within the market value of the track and the land, but just high enough to deter a few buddies from pooling their money and purchasing it to beat on their race cars every night of the week.
