So, you want to jump into the LSX racing game and be one of the fastest guys on the block, huh? There’s a problem, though: Mark Carlyle, Keith Berry, The Ohio Boys, and Tom Kempf don’t have their cars for sale, so what do you do? Well, at the moment, you can jump on RacingJunk and pick up the quickest All Motor LSX door car in the world: a 2002 ex-Pro Stock Chevrolet Cavalier, and get after it.
Rodney Massengale, the owner of RPM Transmissions, has a stable of race cars that most in the drag racing world would kill for. His C5 nitrous-huffing Real Street Corvette is always a contender at any race. He also has a C7 being built for quarter mile battle, and then there’s his newest acquisition — the stunning NMCA Radial Wars Corvette that previously belonged to Larry Wood. It’s safe to say that Massengale has a taste for really, really fast Corvettes that look as good as they run.
The problem for Massengale is too many fast cars and not enough time to race them. His Cavalier was once run in the NHRA Pro Stock ranks by Gordie Rivera. Jerry Bickel built the chassis and in 2010 gave the car a full carbon fiber interior update to match the carbon fiber body. Powering the car is a Dart Billet block LSX 430 that’s topped off with a set of GM DR heads and a Marcella sheet metal tunnel ram intake. If that’s not enough ‘oomph’ for you, a two-stage dry nitrous system with Induction Solutions solenoids that has not been even sprayed is ready for duty. Of course Massengale put one of his built-to-the-hilt Powerglide transmissions behind the mill to get the power to the tires.
The car has run a best of 7.67 at 176 on motor during the few shakedown passes that have been put on it. For just $80,000 the car can be picked up turnkey and ready to run Top Sportsman, Outlaw 632, 4.50 Index racing, or whatever else suits your fancy. You can check out the full RacingJunk ad to see the extensive list of extras that come with the car, along with all its “standard features”.
