RJ Race Cars Unveils Castellana’s New 2011 Chevy Camaro

Mike Castellana has rolled back the sheets on his new Al-Anabi Racing Camaro, fresh from the Rick Jones Race Cars shop. Unlike the previous Camaro’s for Castellana and the Al-Anabi Racing team, the body for this  machine was not designed from a car built in the ‘60’s or early ‘70’s, but instead from one designed forty years later: the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. RJ Race Cars has been pushing to get the first of the Five Star-bodied 2011 Camaro’s off of the line, and Castellana is lucky recipient number one.

Castellana’s new ride has been built for competition with both the NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge and the highly competitive ADRL Pro Nitrous eliminator in mind. The Al-Anabi ’11 Camaro is just the first of many late model Camaros that are under construction at the RJ Race Cars shop located in Galesburg, Ill. Castellana’s crew chief, Shannon Jenkins, is pleased with the aesthetics of the car and is confident of the team’s ability to get the car performing on the track, as he was quoted on ADRL Drag Racing Live stating, “it’s a beautiful car and it’s going to be a real fast race car, I’m sure.” Beyond featuring the ultra-lightweight carbon fiber body, RJ Race Cars has done their magic beneath the skin of the Camaro as well for the latest lightweight tricks to give Castellana’s ’11 Camaro the edge on the track.

With the team facing a hectic schedule in September, there’s no set date to debut the car in competition, but it will be on track in late August for testing. Rickie Jones, son of Rick Jones and a fellow Pro Nitrous competitor, is admittedly pleased with the way that the new body has worked out. “It’s turned out really good; really an awesome car. The great thing about it is it really looks like a 2011 Camaro. There’s a great amount of identity in it.”

The Al-Anabi crew has always expected great things from their cars and with the tuning prowess of Rick Jones combined with the unmatched nitrous expertise of Shannon Jenkins, expect Castellana and his new car to go rounds regardless of the series the car is competing in.
