If you want to see what a full service hot rod and race car shop looks like, check out this video of the House of Hot Rods, LenMar Motorsports and Fat Daddy’s Cafe’. They have a spotless showroom full of hot rods and classic muscle cars as well as a shop that is filled to the brim with some very mean race cars. They also have plenty of classic cars that they are working on. You’ll find a full climate controlled machine shop, engine dyno room, chassis shop, engine tuning area, paint and body shop, upholstery area and what looks like a big oven for powder coating. The video takes you to Fat Daddy’s Sports & Sprits Cafe’ that is also owned by LenMar. It is a beautiful restaurant with their Pro Mod 1970 Cuda “Hell Fish” on a turntable right in front of the door. Co-Owner Gaylen Smith is the driver of the Texas Bounty Hunter Pro Modified car. They also have the Tim McAmis 1957 Chevy Bel-Air known as the “Helair” and the Jeffers Pro Car’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda known as “Hell Fish”. The power plants in each of these beasts are 526ci Alan Johnson Hemis with PSI superchargers that are converter-driven Lenco transmissions. The Hell Fish Cuda has been retired after 16 Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association finals, 9 wins and #2 points finishes in the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons. Gaylen also has 5 Pro Mod Championships under his belt with different race cars. The Cuda has ran a best of 3.80 at 201 mph in the eighth and the 57 Chevy has been 3.67 at 208. On order for 2011, is a Garret Race Cars 1959 Chevy Corvette. The team also has a beautiful Fuel Altered car named “Anger Management.”
Co-owner Mark Eddins has been a hot rod guy his whole life and after meeting Gaylen Smith in 2006, they started LenMar Motorsports. Mark has recently purchased a dragster and wants to give drag racing a try. You should see him at the Kennedale dragstrip this season getting the hang of the new car.
Gaylen was working out of his father’s shop for many years working on racecars and general mechanics. When GayLEN and MARk got together and formed LenMar, they started out of Gaylen’s 2400 square foot garage. Now there shop area is 18,000 square feet. These guys are big time in Mansfield, Texas.
