Omaha Nebraska’s most infamous street raced hot rod, the turbocharged LS-powered Fox body Mustang known as the Beater Bomb, recently took to the streets in Kansas City for the WYCO Cash Days Shootout, where he took down the competition and captured a nice chunk of change to boot!
The WYCO Street Races started five years ago as a Sunday afternoon gathering of street racers and has grown into a semi-annual shootout that draws a sizable crowd at each event. The organizers, a trio of local Kansas City gear heads, keep things fun and family-friendly, and the events draw some unique and powerful cars, which we are introduced to at the beginning of the video. The events draw cars from several states, including Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri, and the racing draws a crowd that grows larger with each event. The group also has their own Top 10 list, like the one made famous by another group of midwest street racers you may have heard of.
Beater Bomb, a more-than-meets-the-eye sleeper style ride that, somewhat ironically, has a sizable social media following, didn’t have it easy, as some of the competition put up serious a fight. In the first round, Beater Bomb overpowered a fourth-gen Camaro, then overcame a holeshot by his G-Body competition to take the win in the semifinal.
In the money round, Beater Bomb faced off with a wicked boosted Chevy II, and needed a holeshot of his own to take the win in a killer side-by-side race. Following the shootout, there were quite a few grudge races to end the day, featuring a wide range of cars laying it down for the fans!
The WYCO Organizers dedicated this event to a friend and longtime supporter of their events, Eric “Biggin” Woodrome, who passed away recently.
