Chris Dufresne is the owner of a 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8, but this isn’t your ordinary wagon. Chris and his Magnum have been on TV shows, won a few national events, and have made a ton of shocking passes down the dragstrip. We found out about this Mopar muscle when we were checking out a post of Vorech’s Blog.
Chris’ Magnum has a 392 cubic inch supercharged engine with a 175 shot of nitrous. With some help from Vortech Superchargers, Chris has his eyes set on breaking some records. He had won the 2009 LX and beyond nationals in OH, and received the name “Stupid Nasty” on Speed Channel’s Pass Time by running a 10.07 @ 133.74 mph. (Pass Time is that one show were contestants attempt to guess what the car will run, but they can only ask one question each.) No one, including the expert on the show could guess the time Chris would run. His time wasn’t even close to the lowest guess!
Many would be happy. Many would take their 15 minutes of fame, and bask in it for the rest of their lives. Not Chris. He decided to help his Vortech supercharger out by making things easier for it to pump massive amount of air into the HEMI’s bores.
He put the car back in the shop and started bumping up the performance. He installed some Performance Werks Racing cylinder heads with Ferrara valves, PAC dual springs, Ti retainers, and ceramic coatings on the valve faces and chambers. The result was great, dropping his e.t time down into the 9’s without nitrous. When he put the car on the dyno to visually see the numbers, he was astonished, and so were we. It pumped out 922 rwhp with 756 rwtq on 93 octane and a street tune. The next step for Chris and his Vortech powered Magnum is to dial in the car with the nitrous set up and start breaking some records.
So we want to know, is this the most powerful, most bad ass HEMI Magnum out there? Watch the video and decide for yourself.
