The wildly popular television show Street Outlaws on the Discovery Channel held a contest for its fans to showcase their own vehicles. The Street Outlaws Motor Mayhem page on the Discovery website allowed fans to “Browse through submissions, drool over performance kits and give props to those who boast some serious power.” Each week, fans would vote on the cars they thought were the best, and through a bracket-style elimination contest, the most popular vehicles would move on until a winner was decided.

Glenn Hudelson’s Vortech Supecharged 1990 Ford Mustang dubbed “Hellboy” was the winner. Hudelson, who owns Hudelson’s Auto Repair & Performance in Blackhawk, South Dakota, has owned the car for over 20 years, and done most of the work on it himself. The car makes well over 1,000 horsepower, and even though Hudelson is still working through some tuning gremlins, the car has successfully gone 5.70’s at 124mph in the eighth-mile.

The Engine is a Ford Racing Boss block, stroked to 347 cubic-inches. The supercharger is a Vortech V-7 YSi, producing 26-28 pounds of boost and blowing into a Vortech Mondo Igloo Charge Cooler. The cylinder heads are AFR 185’s with Probe Industries shaft rockers. The camshaft is an Anderson Ford B451 grind with high rev springs and Titanium retainers. That is backed by a Schmidt Transmission built Powerglide with an ATI 5,000 stall converter with manual valve body and transbrake. The rear end is a narrowed 8.8 with spool and 33 spline axles. Weld wheels and Aerospace brakes round out the list.
