SUMMERS, BERRY, GUSTAFSON WIN IN NORWALK AS NMCA CHAMPIONS CROWNED
Keith Berry (Radial Wars), Eric Gustafson (Street Outlaw), and Joe Bucaro (Nitrous Pro Street) all added victories on Sunday at the NMCA World Street Finals to their newly-minted championships to close out the 2015 season.

The NMCA closed out its season in record-setting style at the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk over the weekend as champions were crowned in all of the heads-up and index eliminators. In Pro Mod, reigning champ Steve Summers downed newly-minted champion Michael Biehle in the quickest side-by-side race in series history, 5.80 to a 5.83, to end the season on a high note. In Radial Wars, Keith Berry cemented his championship with a defeat of DeWayne Mills, who had gone a record 4.02-seconds earlier in the event, in the final round. Eric Gustafson did likewise in Street Outlaw, adding a 4.50-second victory over Jaron Wenrick to the clinching of his season title. Another new champion, Joe Bucaro, was also victorious, defeating Don Baskin by a 7.29 to 7.36 count.

Frankie Taylor avenged his final round loss in Outlaw Pro Mod in St. Louis a year ago by capturing the crown early Sunday morning at the Gateway Motorsports Park. In a matchup of the Nos. 1 and 2 qualifiers, Taylor downed Randell Reid with a stellar 3.58 to a slowing 4.49. In Pro Mod, top qualifier Kevin Fiscus defeated teammate Jim Bell in an all-turbo final, 5.94 to 5.99, while Mark Luton emerged victorious in the 315 Radial vs. Outlaw 10.5 category, taking his slick-tire Mustang to a 4.08-second ousting of the radial tire car of Taylor Lastor. Lamar Swindoll Jr. also turned away Lastor in his double-up bid in 275 Radial, taking his ’70 Nova to a 4.64-second victory.

Kansas native Randy Meyer turned in a dominating performance in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Series event at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky over the weekend, qualifying atop the field with a track record 5.21 before defeating Jared Dreher in Sunday’s final round, 5.31 to a 5.42. In Top Alcohol Funny Car, Andy Bohl notched his first victory of the season, running 5.67 in the final to defeat Todd Robertson, who got away first and was out in front before his car slowed.
