eBay and Racing Junk finds are rather popular with the viewing public, and there are generally two polar opposite ends of the automotive spectrum that capture one’s attention. There are the exceptionally rare, if not one-of-a-kind classic or restored vehicles that pull down a staggering amount of money. And then there are the comical, one-of-a-kind cars that may have been better left none-of-a-kind and jalopies. We’re not quite sure what this find on Racing Junk qualifies as, but it’s interesting to say the least.
What we have here is a 1996 Dodge Caravan that’s been heavily modified front to back and top to bottom. First and most obvious, the roof has been hacked off some 12-inches to create a very low, race-like appearance. The original inline four-banger or V6 has been replaced with a 440-inch Big Block Chrysler engine that’s positioned not in the engine bay, but right smack in the middle of this minivan. And appropriately, a dragster scoop is mounted to the roof to pull air down into the motor.
These minivans from Chrysler are infamous for their almost certain transmission failure, and thankfully, this one is now equipped with a GM Powerglide transmission with a transbrake.
Rounding out the package is a set of Mickey Thompson slicks on what appears to be a pair of blacked out Weld Racing wheels, while the front wheels remain factory – blacked out of course. There’s also a roof-mounted wing and a set of wheelie bars on what is certainly the coolest Caravan we’ve ever seen, even if the concept is a little strange. If you need to get the soccer team to the game in a hurry, this is just what the doctor ordered.
