Two weeks ago, Texas native Steve Wiley showed up at the San Antonio Raceway for the Bounty Hunters No Prep Grudge Nationals with his 3-second Outlaw Pro Modified Corvette — a car many would believe to be highly over-powered for an un-prepped racing surface — to take a crack at the $50,000 winners payday. Wiley and a couple of other competitors with the Texas Outlaw Pro Modified Association circuit had been rained out an event elsewhere in Texas, and this was their backup plan.
In the end, to the dismay of the many heavy-hitting grudge, street, and no prep racers in attendance, it proved to be a wise decision for Wiley and his Texas Grim Reaper team, as they snagged the 50-large after six rounds of racing in the event’s Big Tire class, capping off the night with a defeat of Ricky Granado in the winner-take-all final.
The question is, how did he do it? And the answer would be power management, a light throttle pedal foot, and Davis Technologies’ world-renowned Profiler Wheel Speed Management device. The Profiler has helped racers to achieve race-winning consistency in every corner of the world, and now it’s one of the go-to tools for no prep racing … particularly if you’re trying to stick 3,000-plus horsepower to a race track void of rubber and glue.
We’ve got a pair of complete, in-depth guides to the Davis Profiler, it’s features, and a look at how it’s designed to assist racers just like Steve Wiley, right here on Dragzine, so check them out!
