The Outlaw 10.5 class is one of the original small-tire classes that is full of rich history, and more than its share of tough competitors. If you want to stay at the front of this class you have to constantly be working your program across the board, and that’s exactly what Harry Buck Jarvis’ team is doing. Jarvis recently took delivery of a brand new Vanishing Point Race Cars-built 1969 Camaro and is finishing preparations to make his 2016 debut with the new ride

13268356_1764832717129703_350910909103724129_oAccording to Mark Benston, Jr., one of Jarvis’ crewmembers the big reason for the new car is simple: weight distribution. “The main reason for building new car was so we would be able to get the car light enough to place weight where we needed it for balance.

“It was a problem with old car — the more weight we put in it to balance it out and make it go straight, it made the car overweight more than what we would like to have given up,” Benston says.

Jarvis will be sticking with his engine from Mark Benston Racing Engines, a 540X big-block Chevy based on a New Century block and Brodix Big Duke heads.

Jarvis will also be making the switch to EFI using a Haltech system to control everything, and Mark Benston Sr. will continue to do the tuning.

The team plans to campaign the Camaro in the Mickey Thompson Outlaw 10.5 National Championship Series, at the Yellowbullet Nationals, World Cup Finals, and Orlando World Street Nationals this year.
