It seems like only yesterday, but our Project BlownZ06 Chevrolet Corvette is more than three months removed from its long-awaited debut in Radial vs The World and Radial Wars competition, and it’s been quite a ride thus far … both literally and figuratively.
Powered by a 548-inch Pro Line Racing-built Hemi powerplant fed by a ProCharger F3-136 supercharger, the Corvette rocketed into the threes in its debut at the U.S. Street Nationals in Bradenton, Florida. The next time we unloaded, at the NMCA season opener back in Bradenton, we made history in testing by scoring the quickest run in history by a ProCharger-powered, radial-tire doorslammer at 3.86-seconds in pre-race testing. That performance was just a precursor of what was to come, as at legal NMCA weight, we were fortunate to come away with a victory in Radial Wars and grab an early points lead in the class.
With the record and the points lead in-hand, we headed to the second stop on the NMCA tour in Atlanta and came up a round short of repeating, but made some solid laps in qualifying to give us data for the warmer months ahead. With the cobwebs knocked off, the plan is to contest the entire NMCA schedule and chase the Radial Wars championship and bring him a title — the first in the class’ history — for the gang at the ProCharger. And perhaps, push that 3.86 record a little deeper.
