From the Southwest to the Northeast and everywhere in between, 275 Drag Radial events are popping up on the maps everywhere with almost instantaneous success in most cases. As the racers with these cars are always looking for a place to race, one of the biggest reasons for the 275 class’ success is the abundance of these kind of cars. Omahar Berry is just one of the many who believes this is his calling, and changing up the engine combination in his Firebird to finally be able to run with the big boys in the 275 ranks. Head on over to Yellow Bullet to checkout more on this mean purple bird.
Formerly powered by a 383 C.I. LT1-based twin turbo engine, Berry’s new weapon of choice is a 400″ DART-based SBC with a fresh set of Turbonetics 76mm turbochargers. Add in some All-pro 23 degree cylinder heads, and you’ve got C&S Racing Engines’ basic recipe for a heavy hitting 275 class contender. Sure the spec sheet sounds good, but the purple anodized valve covers, intake elbow and fuel rails really finished off the car’s wild purple theme.
While the car is still being wrenched on over at Madman Racing Co., Berry tells us to look out for this wild bird at any and all 275 drag radial events in the Texas, Florida, Alabama and Georgia area. Omahar is taking a break from driving for this season however, and is summoning Sheldon Lewis to man the controls this year. One sweet stylin’ F-body with an awesome drivetrain to mach, we’ll just have to wait and see if its on-track performance will back up its awesome appearance. Enjoy the progress pics in the meantime, and don’t forget to check back for more updates as Berry and crew push to move this car from the shop lift to the finish line!
