Beyond their additional title rights sponsorship programs at NHRA national events in 2021 that was announced today, Dodge and Mopar have also ramped up support of sportsman drag racers by way of NHRA contingency offerings. As our friends at Dodge Garage note, “The rash of cancelled races in 2020 brought on by the pandemic limited opportunities for Dodge//Mopar racers to cash in on the generous contingency cash prizes available by the brands,” and so the sister brands are going big in 2021.
Dodge and Mopar will pay out $300 to win and $100 to runner-up at all 22 NHRA camping World Drag Racing Series nationals events to competitors in Stock, Super Stock, Super Gas and Super Street in the Mopar product categories of Engine Assembly, Intake Manifold and Valve Covers. They will also pay $100 and 50, respectively, at all 45 regional NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing.
Ramping up the rewards, racers with 2009 to current model year Dodge Mopar Challenger Drag Paks competing in Stock and Super Stock will earn $1,000 to win and $500 to the runner-up at all 22 NHRA Camping World events, with the big one — $2,500 to win and $1,000 runner-up — to those racing the Challenger Drag Pak in the Factory Stock Showdown class at all eight NHRA Camping World races the class will be racing at this season.
Last but certainly not least, Stock and Super Stock racers can collect up to $1,000 for winning their heads-up eliminator during class eliminations at select NHRA national events.
To be eligible for the contingency payouts, Dodge//Mopar racers can claim one or all four product categories when filling out the NHRA contingency forms when you win or place as the runner-up. You must also run the approved Mopar contingency decal on both sides of your racecar prior to round one of eliminations, as it will be verified by the NHRA track staff at the conclusion of the final round. The Mopar contingency decals will be available at the Dodge//Mopar road show located in the sponsor midway at numerous NHRA Camping World National Events throughout the 2021 racing season or you can contact Mopar/Dodge and they can be sent out to you.
