We should first point out that isn’t fairly common for someone to take their car to the track for some passes that hasn’t either been there before and watched the procedure, seen it on the television, or has a buddy that knows at least the basics of legal drag racing on a close course. But if by some chance you haven’t taken any of these steps and you intend to take your car to the local track, take a small piece of advice: before you pull your ride into the staging lanes, go to the starting line or even the grandstands and watch. Hop on your bicycle or lace up your Nike’s and trek to the top end of the track and check out where the turn off’s are. Take in how it all works before you make yourself look stupid and possibly get yourself or someone else hurt.

The driver of this high-dollar Nissan GTR evidently didn’t take such counsel, and fortunately for us, we get to take in a great laugh at his expense. As you can see, the driver pulls the car into the burnout box and awaits his opponent. But as soon as the other car pulls into the water and brings the RPM’s up to do his burnout, this GTR driver things it’s “go” time and lets it rip; right through the staging beams and through every gear all the way to the finish line – leaving chuckles and a bewildered look on the faces of many in his dust.

The GTR is a very fast, very capable car straight off the showroom floor, with quarter mile times in the mid to high 11-second range possible. But to find out, you first have to stage the car and trip the timing system.
