In a shocking announcement, ProMeda LLC has declared the demise of the NMRA and NMCA. The NMRA and NMCA have been staples in the drag racing world for decades holding events across the country. This is a huge blow to the drag racing world and will impact both racers and facilities.
ProMedia has faced a mountain of issues over the past few years that forced this difficult decision to be made. The loss of four large pre-COVID revenue-generating events, declining ad and sponsorship revenue, and general inflation all played a roll. Hurricane Helene’s impact on the company’s largest net profit event, the NMRA World Finals, was the final nail in the coffin for the company.
Another casualty of the ProMedia shutdown is its presence at the PRI Show in December. This means the awards banquet for both organizations has been canceled. ProMedia does plan on sending all of its champions and Top-10 finishers all of their awards, including championship rings and custom jackets.
ProMedia did have this to say about the situation.
“ProMedia and our entire team sincerely thank our racers and fans for many years of dedicated support and passion for muscle car performance. We appreciate our sponsors for their longterm friendship and loyalty, most especially our series sponsors, Holley and Red Line Oil. Our track partners are the best in the business and we’re proud to call them our friends. Finally, we have been truly blessed having the most dedicated and talented employees and event staff in the business made up of true professionals and wonderful people.”
There have been some rumblings on social media about other organizations and promoters trying to give NMRA and NMCA racers a place to compete in 2025. We at Dragzine will keep a close eye on the situation and let our readers know about where these racers could hang their helmets in the new year.
