Jeff Serra Claims $15K Win At Spring Fling

Battling through huge fields against the nation’s toughest bracket racers requires sharp reactions and precise driving, especially when big money waits in the winner’s circle.

Veteran competitor Jeff Serra demonstrated those skills perfectly on Wednesday, capturing the opening main event title at the Strange Engineering Spring Fling presented by Optima Batteries at GALLOT Motorsports Park.

Serra drove his way to the $15,000 victory during the Advanced Product Design Warm-Up Wednesday race at GALOT Motorsports Park. The day began with a massive field of 330 entries staging for the first round of eliminations. As rounds progressed under the North Carolina sun, Serra consistently navigated the tough competition.

His path included a crucial quarterfinal victory over Jackson Worters, where Serra combined a perfect 0.000 reaction time with a run just 0.014 seconds over his dial-in. A subsequent bye run in the semifinals advanced him directly into the final round showdown.

His opponent, David Lowe, reached his first-ever Fling final round after defeating Bob Engelman in the semis. This set up an all-door car final for the $15,000 prize. At the starting line, Serra gained the advantage immediately with a stellar 0.013 reaction time.

That pressure applied by Serra off the line forced Lowe to push the finish line stripe too hard, resulting in Lowe breaking out by a scant three-thousandths of a second and handing the win light and the big check to Serra.

This victory adds another major Fling accomplishment to Serra’s racing resume. It marks his third career win at Peter Biondo’s popular high-dollar bracket racing events, complementing a $100,000 and a $25,000 victory he scored back in 2021. Serra also has four previous runner-up finishes at Fling events, showing his consistent ability to go deep in these challenging fields.

Earlier in the week, during pre-event activities on Tuesday, Austin Thompson claimed the $20,000 prize in the RAD Torque Systems Shootout, defeating recent Fling Million runner-up Cory Gulitti in that final. With Jeff Serra taking Wednesday’s win, the focus now shifts to the even larger payouts later in the week at GALOT, starting with the JEGS Performance $50,000 race on Thursday.
