The SCAG Power Equipment nitro teams all have a chance to finish the Western Swing strong. When the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge kick off at Sonoma Raceway, all the drivers will have one goal: to win the event.
Justin Ashley Has Big Goals For Sonoma Nationals
Justin Ashley’s season has been full of peaks and valleys, but his team has plowed through all the challenges and cherished each victory. The slow start to the 2025 season for Ashley has blossomed into six final round appearances, two wins, and a third-place spot in the points standings. Riding a high into Sonoma Raceway is a good thing for Ashley, considering the success he’s had at this track in the past.
“The Sonoma Nationals is really the start to the back half of the season, now that we’re 10 plus races in, everyone has gotten themselves into a groove,” Ashley says. “The thought process for us is, how do we take these last few races before the Countdown to the Championship and make a run at being number one. We just have to take it race by race and just try to continue to stack round wins.”
Dave Richards Excited For Sonoma Opportunities
Dave Richards’ sophomore season racing full-time in the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series has been a learning experience. Both Richards and his team continue to grow and work towards more on-track consistency. The stellar conditions at Sonoma Raceway could give Richards a chance to have a successful race day on Sunday.
“I’m excited to get back to Sonoma. Last year was my first time ever being there; it’s a great facility, and the conditions can be perfect,” Richards says. “It’s going to be fast, especially that Friday night session, and I hope we capitalize on it. It’s such a great place to race. Like I’ve been saying, we’re building up our program, and we will continue to improve. We’re learning and building data, implementing what we learn, and keeping our heads up. It’s a process, but it’s coming around.”
Daniel Wilkerson Is Looking For His First Win At Sonoma
In 2025, Daniel Wilkerson has continued to improve as a driver. So far this season, Wilkerson appeared in the final round of the Winternationals, plus he scored back-to-back Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge wins in Richmond and Norwalk. Wilkerson and his team are ready to show just how competitive they can be at the Sonoma Nationals.
“I can’t wait to go to Sonoma and race because usually it’ll throw you multiple track conditions, and [crew chief] Tim Wilkerson is the master of quickly changing conditions,” said Wilkerson, who is competing with his father as crew chief. “We’ve been chipping away at our cold-weather tune-up, and I think at this point, everybody knows we got a bad-ass hot-weather tune-up. Tim has won here before, so it will be a great place for us to get our first win as a team with me driving.”
