Pro Mod Party: PDRA DragWars At GALOT Recap

As the 2025 PDRA season winds down, every round of racing counts toward a championship. Some teams started the year strong with strings of number one qualifiers and final-round appearances, while others have come alive mid-season, looking to finish with momentum. This past weekend at the ProFab PDRA DragWars presented by PST Driveshafts, teams stepped up as the next-to-last race of the year made every round more critical.

Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous

Championship points leader Tommy Franklin, chasing a fourth Pro Nitrous title, put his ’69 Camaro in the number one qualifying spot. Marcus Butner followed just .006 behind in second. Butner’s testing all season paid off with his second win of the year. This made him the only repeat Pro Nitrous winner in 2025, and he left GALOT second in points, within striking distance of a championship.

The road to the finals wasn’t easy. In round one, Butner faced Cam Clark, who had a slight edge off the line, but Butner’s Jay Cox-tuned Camaro drove around with low E.T. of the round, a 3.666 at 206.99 mph. He followed with wins over Tim Molnar and Dane Wood before meeting Franklin in the final.

Franklin’s day started rough. Against Ed Wilson in round one, Franklin suffered a backfire before half-track, but Wilson had his own issues, and Franklin carried enough momentum to take the win. Quick repairs got him back for round two, where he edged current Pro Nitrous champion Fredy Scriba. A bye in the semis advanced him to the final.

In the championship-shaping matchup, both drivers were cautious at the tree. At the stripe, it was Butner by .011, running 3.634 at 207.78 mph to Franklin’s 3.666 at 203.71 mph, moving Butner into second in points.

Top Qualifiers: Franklin, 3.623/207.34; Butner, 3.629/207.37; Tim Paap, 3.659/204.35.

WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive

At the GALOT season opener, Melanie Salemi won the 660 Man trophy. She came to DragWars eyeing another Pro Boost championship, but Ty Tutterow stood in the way. Riding three straight finals and two wins, Tutterow carried momentum and qualified number one.

Eliminations weren’t easy. Tutterow beat Bubba Greene in round one, Jason Lee in round two, and Randy Weatherford in the semis, a rematch of the US 131 final, where Weatherford prevailed. This time, Tutterow took the win.

Salemi charged to her second straight final with wins over Steve King, Johnny Camp, and Ed Marx. Facing Tutterow again, she left nearly even, but her car went quiet past 60 feet. Tutterow powered to the win with a 3.561 at 209.95 mph, his second in a row, extending his points lead.

Top Qualifiers: Tutterow, 3.559/209.92; Jason Harris, 3.559/208.97; Camp, 3.591/207.85.

Liberty’s Gears Pro Street presented by Menscer Motorsports

Pro Street has delivered some of the season’s best racing. Blake Denton’s Musi-powered ’69 Camaro has been the benchmark with four number ones, four finals, and two wins, keeping him in the points lead most of the year.

Defending champ Ethan Steding, however, wants to keep the No. 1 on his car. With two wins and a runner-up, he entered GALOT second in points.

In round one, Steding advanced when Chris Tuten broke, posting low E.T. of the round at 3.947/194.38. That set up a massive round-two matchup with Denton. Steding left first and held on, 3.929 to Denton’s 3.934. He then defeated Richard Reagan in the semis.

Meanwhile, No. 9 qualifier Ron Green and his screw-blown Firebird fought through the other side of the ladder, eliminating Bill Riddle, Fletcher Cox, and Scott Kincaid. In the final, Steding grabbed a huge starting-line advantage and never looked back, running 3.925/194.74 to Green’s 3.938/179.35. The win put Steding atop the Pro Street points.

Top Qualifiers: Cox, 3.855/190.57; Reagan, 3.899/196.50; Denton, 3.926/194.86.

AED Competition Extreme Pro Stock presented by Kaase Racing

Jordan Ensslin has surged late in the season. After missing US 131, he came back strong, winning Bristol and now qualifying No. 1 at GALOT with a 4.050/176.42.

Ensslin had a bye in round one, then edged Jeremy Huffman in round two with a .059, low E.T. of eliminations. That advanced him to the final.

Points leader Alan Drinkwater, with three finals and two wins in 2025, defeated Steven Boone and Elijah Morton to reach the final. Ensslin left first, but tire shake forced a shift adjustment, allowing Drinkwater to drive around for the win.

Top Qualifiers: Ensslin, 4.050/176.42; Morton, 4.064/177.70; Drinkwater, 4.065/177.14.

Pro 632 presented by PTC Torque Converters

Jeff Melnick has been nearly unstoppable, winning three straight races and carrying a commanding points lead. At GALOT, he kept rolling, driving Alan O’Brien’s Camaro past Gary Hood, Kyle Salminen, and Carson Hoyle to reach the final.

Walter Lannigan, whose ride was sold but quickly picked up by a new owner, also made the final. He advanced with a bye in round one, then beat Jeff Pittman and Jason Ventura.

In the final, Melnick left first but suffered driveline failure. Lannigan went A-to-B for the win at 4.153/169.70, sweeping both GALOT races this season.

Super Street presented by Brian’s Heating and Cooling

The small-block Ford Fox-body Mustangs of Connor McGee and Austin Vincent have traded wins all season. At GALOT, Dan Whetstine tried to disrupt the battle, qualifying No. 1.

After round one, all three remained alive, but Whetstine went red against McGee in round two. That set up another McGee vs. Vincent final. McGee went red at –.007, while Vincent was dead-perfect with a .000 light to score his second win of the year.
