Have you ever wondered what it’s like being behind the wheel of a Pro Modified car during a nitrous explosion? Well this YouYube video shows you what it must look and sound like to the drive of one of these nitrous-ingesting monsters when things go wrong. Pro Mod regular John Vergotz experienced this boomer last year at the Pittsburgh Raceway Park in Pennsylvania that actually blew the top of the intake manifold and the carburetors completely off. A relatively small fire ensued, bu luckily, the driver is unhurt and had the quick sense to shut off the power and the nitrous.

This type of high dollar race car is equipped with a fire system that can be activated by the driver if necessary. The tracks safety crew did a great job of getting the fire out.

Vergotz campaigns this Camaro in the ADRL Pro Nitrous Category with other similar Pro Modified-style race cars. Powering this wicked fast ride is an 822 cubic inch Engine from Buck Racing Engines and a whole lot of nitrous oxide. In Pro Nitrous, the cars run to the eighth-mile with elapsed times at or under the four-second flat mark. You can only imagine the feeling of acceleration going from 0 to 170 mph in four seconds, and likewise, you can see how fast things can go wrong at that speed.
