In case you’ve never taken a look around at the drag racing memorabilia that’s out there on auction on Ebay, there are some rather cool vintage items that go across the block on a frequent basis. While there are a lot of retro items such as t-shirts and signs that have been recreated with the Lions dragstrip logo and other classic designs, there too is a slew of real, legitimate vintage stuff that can be snagged at great prices. We’re talking items that have been laying around someone’s garage or attic for the last 30 or 40 years collecting dust but maintaining their original condition.
Some of the items that we found included an original and mint condition NHRA rulebook from 1969 that is sure to raise some eyebrows when compared alongside a modern rulebook and some original “NHRA Winston Drag Racing” banners and decals.
You can also find some original track apparel, such as a t-shirt from the 1990 Winston Finals in Pomona, a shirt from now-driving instructor Roy Hill from the late 70’s or early 80’s, an old 1980’s UDRA shirt, and a poster from the 1973 Funny Car Nationals at Miami-Hollywood Speed Park depicting the famed Richard Tharpe driven Blue Max. Granted, the types of items out there for sale will change from day to day, there are always some interesting little gems to spruce up your den, garage, or the walls of your enclosed race trailer. And while it’s doubtful that any of it will ever become valuable and therefore make you rich, some of these original and often random items make for nice collector and discussion pieces.
