Take the constantly growing sport of drag racing and combine it with a winning combination like the guys at Proline Racing have proven time and time again and your boundaries are endless. Endless even when you consider racing far outside the United States, which is where the dynamic duo of Steve Petty and Eric Dillard recently visited to help some of their newest customers. Sao Paulo, Brazil to be exact, was the destination and the Proline effort was focused on a pair of beautiful first generation-bodied Pro Modified Camaros. Check out all the photos from the Brazil trip on the Proline Racing website.
The pairing of powerful Camaros consist of red 1968 Camaro owned and driven by Roderjan Busato, and a white 1969 model owned a driven by Fabio Costa. Both of these machines are motivated by the popular PLR 481X engine and boosted by a pair of Precision 94mm Pro Mod turbochargers. Petty and Dillard worked their magic on these two cars while they were in Sao Paulo to help get the Camaros race ready. After a few hits they felt that they had reached a good baseline for turning the owners loose on race day.
Competing with a car on the level of the Proline powered Camaros will happen within the Brazilian National drag racing events in three different location: Curitiba, Sao Paulo and Rio Grande Do Sul; and with a current quarter mile Pro Modified record in the 7.40’s it shouldn’t be long before that all changes.
Considering that Costa and Busato have the same power levels that can be found in the United States that’s breaking the five-second barrier in competition, the country of Brazil could be in for a real treat when these two cars are unleashed at their full potential.
