Let’s face it, if you aren’t up on your LS-studies, you better get to work. If you haven’t already realized it, the Chevrolet LS-series of engines will soon become to new small-block of choice for many and all restoration projects, drag cars and even replacement engines for daily drivers. We got the VIP tour of Chevrolet Performance’s massive SEMA booth this year and were blown away by GM’s ability to make concept come to reality.

Chevrolet has upped the ante this year, especially with the crate powertrain offerings.

From 5.3 variations to the uber-awesome LSA engine, Chevrolet now has a complete pacakge which includes the transmission as well. What’s more, Chevrolet Performance parts is adding emission equipment to make the LS3 and 5.3 E-ROD compliant to the strict emissions rules set forth by California.

Chevrolet Performance made sure to fill their booth with all of their latest goods. We seriously couldn’t contain ourselves. Like children in a candy store we browsed all of what Chevrolet has to offer. Chevrolet was popping full of good news for Chevrolet fans. For instance, Chevrolet Performance was proud to offer COPO Camaro production-based assembly parts. In short, this means you can build your very own COPO-style Camaro from the Chevrolet Performance Parts catalog.

For instance, the COPO Camaro 396/375 Concept. This Camaro LS3-based COPO 396 offers high-flowing CNC ported heads, enhancements to the valvetrain, and a forged rotating assembly to assure high-RPM performance. Specs include the L9H 6.2L intake manifold, 4340 H-beam rods, forged flat top pistons and pump gas friendly 10.2:1. Also available this year is the infamous LSx 376 crate engine, now available with fuel injection by way of an LS3 intake manifold assembly. It still features an LSx cast-iron 6-bolt block, forged 4340 crankshaft, powdered metal rods, forged pistons and 450 hp.

Of course, the highlight of the Chevrolet Performance booth was the expanded availability of the Connect & Cruise crate powertrain systems. Now, available in 8 different combinations including the emissions compliant E-Rod option. Each crate powertrain system includes a brand-new fully assembled crate engine, brand-new or remanufactured transmission, SuperMatic transmission control module and calibrated engine module.

Also, two oxygen sensors and mounting bosses, mass airflow meter and mounting boss, throttle pedal assembly, assembled wiring harness with fuse box, oil pressure sensors and instruction sheet.

We’re also excited to bring you news of the now available 2013 parts catalog completely packed full of Camaro parts for the street, strip and track. Without a doubt, Chevrolet’s newest catalog is a monster! It’s 384 pages of no excuses as to not knowing what’s available from Chevrolet. Chevrolet Performance Parts was also excited to release their “The Block” magazine featuring the performance possibilities, accessory upgrades and personalities of Chevrolet’s SEMA vehicles.
