Video: Coyote Stock Competitor Brings New Record with Sealed Engine

There’s nothing quite like breaking records at the drag strip and that’s exactly what Justin’s Performance Center recently did with one of their Mustangs. But we’re not talking about some over-the-top built beast, here. In fact, the Mustang that recently cracked a record races in the NMRA Coyote Stock class, making it possibly the fastest 2011+ Stang with a sealed “stock” Coyote engine to date. Check it out in the video above.

JPC’s modern Coyote competitor is just one of many impressive cars the company has had a hand in, but when it comes to “stock” performance, this car couldn’t make JPC any prouder. After all, when you’re talking about a car severely limited on modification options due to race class, you can’t ask for anything better than a record breaker.

While the Mustang makes use of a Ford Racing sealed long block Coyote engine, it does have quite a few upgrades.

Inside the engine compartment, you’ll find a JPC carbon fiber cold air intake, Powercell 12v battery Kooks 1 ¾-inch long tube headers connected to a custom exhaust with Kooks 3-inch off road x-pipe and Flowmaster Outlaw mufflers, and ID 72 injectors. This engine is matted to a manual transmission with a single disc diaphragm clutch, which is attached to an aluminum driveshaft.

Underneath the car, you’ll find a plethora of performance suspension components, including Maximum Motorsports rear lower control arms, RaceCraft upper control arms, TRZ anti rollbar, 2010 Cobra Jet rear springs, Strange axles and spool with an 8.8-inch rearend, BMR K-member and A arms, and QA1 double-adjustable rear shocks and struts with coil overs. Other upgrades include FTW e85 race fuel, Bogart wheels and 26×10-inch Mickey Thompson slicks.

With all it’s upgrades the Mustang recently laid down a 10.29-second quarter mile time at Maryland International Raceway with a trap speed of 130mph. Not bad for a car with a sealed Coyote under the hood.

There is no doubt that this bad boy is one killer Mustang and having a “stock” engine makes it that much more impressive. Be sure to stay tuned as we look at another record breaking Mustang built by JPC in the near future.
