We’re all for DIY (doing it yourself) when it comes to building our cars. I mean seriously, who wants to drop all that money on a shop when you can benefit for learning a new skill all the while earning that great sense of accomplishment of having done a job by yourself?
Well, sometimes, it’s best to consult a professional, particularly if you don’t know what you’re doing. Some people calling it “hooning,” while others call these folks “shade tree mechanics;” either way, sometimes when a project becomes too much for your skill set, it’s time to call out for help.
We say this as we watched this video of a hometown hero and his Camaro lineup at the Christmas Tree for a hard launch. As soon as the ambers light up, this Camaro loads up its back-halved slicks and readies for launch…that is, until his 4-link brackets sheer cleanly off of the rear end housing.
Coming to a gentle stop about a foot ahead of his differential, the driver climbs out of his Camaro to see what the damage was. Thankfully, it wasn’t catastrophic and likely easily repairable. Hopefully this time, though, he farms out the job.
