ORTC Redemption SGMP 2011 Same Day Coverage

SELECT COVERAGE BY DAY:

Sunday is Redemption day here in South Georgia where we will see who is the baddest of the bad. We have several cars in the 4.40’s’s this weekend and records set in most classes. We are kicking off here shortly with index racing then one round of  TRZ X 275 to get the field down before we begin our regular class rotation. With eleven classes here it will be a long hectic and exciting day.

Brad Edwards is sporting a new car this weekend. It's a 25.2 build by Team Z Motorsports with the same engine from the previous car.

Tony Ridenour was warming up the car this morning and will be running Outlaw Radial today ater running a personal best 4.54 last night.

Who could have guessed this is the gear set out of David Wolfe's car after his number one qualifier 4.35 @ 188 last night. A new ring and pinion and third member was installed last night.

X275 Round One

Russel McManious qualified in eighth with a 5.02 and took the win over Bubba Harris.

Eric McMillen was on point and set high MPH for the round with a 154 MPH blast.

Jason Lee carried a wheelie way out in his win over Regan.

Round One Sheets

Kirk Hatley is driving Eric Kenward Wagon this weekend, he made it through round one with a 5.29 @ 134. Neil Hawkins set low ET and High MPH

Radial vs the World

The upset of the day was Don Burton getting the win over top qualifier David Wolfe. Wolfe spun early and Burton put up his only good run so far on the new combo, a 4.95 @ 154.

Mike Modeste lost traction early and did a great job of keeping the car in his lane and off the wall afterwards.

Kevin Fiscus had low ET for this round in his win over Jerry Conner. 4.53 @ 185.

Outlaw Radial

Steve Jackson ran a 4.50 @ 178 on a opponent broke single over DJ Loicano.

Jason Wade rana 4.78 @ 160 with his Texas based Falcon over Tim Kincaid's 93 Mustang's 4.89 @ 158.

4.53 @ 184 for Dillard on a single with Buck Walker not making the call.

A 4.92 @ 154 for McMillen has tounges wagging about his exceptionally high MPH.

J.R. Gibson was dead late and wheelied out in a hard loss to Marty Stinnett who only ran a 6.11.

Alex Vettros had a nice 4.69 @ 170 to take out Jason Etheridge's 01 Mustang.

Thomasville Georgia racer Brandon Wood got the event win over Linda Weeks’ foul start in Open Comp.

7.50 Index had few cars with Jerry Cline’s .042 light helped him score a win over Ronald Weeks.

6.50  Index in contrast had a good field with 30 cars in class. The final would be Ed Bendall and Jeff Moses with Moses going .008 red ending the race early. Bendall ran a 6.509 on his winning pass, just .009 over dail in.

Dillon Voss took the win in 5.30 Index running a 5.52 @ 103 over Joshua Jacobs  off pace 5.82

Holley No Boost winner Chad Henderson met with Francis Johnson in the final after defeating Jason Richards and Rickey Fox. Johnson put together a pait of 4.66's to get through Dave Boger and Ron Hamby. Top qualifier Brian Mchee fell off pace after a 4.54 @ 170 on his earned single. Henderson put up a .65 @ 155 to get around Johnson. Monte Smith made the announcement this weekend that there will be a No Boost class at future events.

Francis Johnson - Holley No Boost Runner Up

Carneyville Kentuckey racer Adam Preston took down top qualifier in round two with a 5.33 @ 130 to Kirk Hatley's 5.37 @ 133. Kirk was driving Eric Kenward's Malibu wagon and congrats are in order to the Kenwards on the birth of their new child. Preston and Bart Tobener both had their best runs in eliminations 5.25 @ 132 for Preston and 5.29 @ 133 for Tobener.

Number three qualifier Gerime Rooks took home the Billet Atomizer Injectors Ultimate Street trophy Sunday advancing over Aaron Yates an absent Brian McQueen then put an .5.22 @ 136 to drive around Matt Davis in the semis. Preston slowed to a 5.39 in the final allowing Rooks to get around him.

TCI Outlaw Radial had a 24 car field with Steve Jackson leading the field. He improved every round from a 4.50 to a 4.43 in round three to get by Chad Henderson's .040 tree and 4.66 @ 155. He had a single and took the tree and backed out in the semi and ripped off a .40 flat @ 179 for the win over Dave Hinzman

Hinzman had his car running well as he also was improving through the rounds meeting with Chris Tedeschi in the semis. 4.55 to Tedeschi's personal best 4.59 @ 168. The number two qualifier left on Jackson running a game 4.51 @ 163 in the all Procharger final round.

TRZ Motorsports X275 had the largest field with over 50 cars on the grounds with more than one racer double entered in other classes. Top qualifier Justin Smith drove his car in Outlaw 275 with Bobby Flippen driving in Outlaw 275. Smith ran a string of 4.90's in eliminations with a best of a 4.90 @ 145 to defeat Chris Evans' game 4.98 @ 142. Bob Kurgan's 5.07 @ 142 wasn't enough to stay ahead of Smith's 4.92 @ 144. Smith ran a 4.89 @ 145 to defeat Pete Harrel.

Kevin Neal qualified fifth in VP Race Fuels Outlaw 275 with his Lebanon Ohio based 87 Mustang. Neal had fairley easy rounds untill he met with Dewayne Shultz's turbocharged Trans Am. Neal's 4.82 @ 151 was a good run for the hardcharging Shultz best effort 4.82 @ 161 MPH blast. Flippen fell to a 4.86 @ 150 in the semis and Joel Greathouse slowed to a 6.02 with both cars carrying the wheels in an exciting final round.

Greathouse was the number two car in class running a best of 4.76 @ 156 on a single in round three.

PTC Radial vs the World is why we are here in February and the performances were nothing short of astonishing with David Wolfe leading qualifying with a 4.35. Number two qualifier Eric Dillard put up a 4.56, a 4.47 and then a 4.404 @ 187 in a great race with Paul Major in round three. Major was on point with a career best 4.440 @ 177. A .001 tree and 4.48 @ 188 defeated Carlton Thompson who slowed to a 7.27. Dillard met with the super consistant Scotty Gaudagno in the final out running hi with a 4.41 @ 185 to Scotty's best game 4.511 @ 172.

Gaudagno tested the track in a round one bye as Shane Stack was out from a lost driveshaft in final qualifying. A nice 4.53 advanced over Ruben T. who shut it down after breaking an anti roll bar. Round three was nitrous vs turbo with Gaudagno outrunning Vrettos game 4.65 @168. He met with Brad Bonnette in the semis who put up his best 4.57 @ 170 to no avail with Scotty laying down another 4.51.
