After months of filming and production and all of the growing anticipation that has come with it for the drag racing community, the feature film Snake & Mongoo$e is mere weeks from its big screen premiere on September 6, and to whet the appetite of those eagerly awaiting the opening, the producers have released an all-new, two-minute trailer that provides the best glimpse yet of what moviegoers can expect when the drag racing-themed flick hits the silver screen.
Snake & Mongoo$e, based on the real-life story of drag racing legends Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoo$e” McEwen, stars Jesse Williams, Richard Blake, Noah Wyle, Ashley Hinshaw, Kim Shaw, and other up-and-coming Hollywood actors and actresses who reprise the roles of iconic figures the likes of Keith Black, Kenny Youngblood, Wally Parks, Roland Leong, and of course Prudhomme, McEwen, and their wives.
The film centers around Prudhomme and McEwen, two historically bitter rivals on the race track during the 1960’s who joined forces off the race track to break new ground by bringing the Mattel and Hot Wheels brands to the auto racing world, forever changing the corporate landscape of the sport. The true story of the two Southern California racers depicts the rivalry, the races, the fights, the victories, the tragedies and failures, and their unique partnership and business success that made them larger than life figures and household names.
The independent Snake & Mongoo$e film was directed by British director Wayne Holloway and production partners Entertainment Universe, Rhino Films, and the NHRA. Filming took place at many re-created drag racing facilities, utilizing period-correct race cars and vehicles to chronicle the slice of Americana from the glory days of drag racing.
Snake & Mongoo$e will premiere in 25 cities hot on the heels of the NHRA’s most prestigious race, the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, in large metro areas and those that feature NHRA national events, including Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, and Indianapolis.
