The biggest news out of Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week competition was undoubtedly Tom Bailey and his Sick Seconds twin-turbo Camaro (which you can read about on Dragzine here and here), but Bailey couldn’t have achieved his incredible six-second average without the use of Holley‘s Dominator Electronic Fuel Injection system.

Over the course of the week-long festivities and 1,200-plus mile tour, Bailey was able to average an insane 6.83 at 214 MPH – numbers unheard of at any Drag Week competition, by any competitor, ever. “The quickest we ran was a 6.70 and 217 MPH,” says Bailey. “We are the first car to ever run a six second pass on each of the five days, and also the first to ever have a six-second average.” Bailey and his team broke the old elapsed time and speed record of 6.94 at 212 MPH.

Also entering the winner’s circle using Holley’s EFI systems was Super Street Big Block NA winner Tim Flanders in his 454-cube LSX-powered ’86 Mustang, which uses Holley’s mid-level HP fuel injection system and Holley Dominator twin fuel pumps.

Super Street Power Adder third-place finisher Shane McClelland also uses Holley’s HP system and finished the torture-test week with an average elapsed time of 8.78 at 156 MPH. Street Race Small Block Power Adder had Holley HP user Chris Bisher’s S-10 averaging 9.30 ET’s, besting third-place finisher (and Holley EFI Tech dude) Rick Anderson’s HP-equipped nitrous-injected ’79 Mustang, which cruised through the week with a 9.48 average.

The brains behind Holley EFI, engineer Doug Flynn, also placed well in the Street Race Small Block Power Adder class, finishing just behind Rick Anderson in his turbocharged LS-powered and Dominator EFI-equipped ’72 Nova. Jeff Sias used a 427-cube small-block Ford and Holley HP system in his 1990 Mustang to take home first place in the Street Race Small Block NA category with a stout 10.09 at 133-plus MPH five-event average.

Holley’s EFI system customers came to win, and they succeeded at their task. An awesome showing for many competitors using fuel injection systems that are proving themselves worthy where it counts – on the track, and on the street. Check out the Holley EFI website for more information on the systems.
