Banks Power Fires Up Their 427CI Supercharged Duramax!

As race season gets closer; more and more race teams are starting to release videos of what they are bringing to the table this year. One such video is comes out of the Banks Power camp.

Banks_dragTheir new 427CI Duramax is certainly going to turn some heads this year. The Banks race prepped block, houses their billet stroker crankshaft which has Carillo H-beam forged steel rods connected to Banks/Mahle forged aluminum pistons. Keeping the whole thing from flexing is a custom Banks aluminum dry sump/girdle. The dry sump is part of the 7 stage oiling system. On the top end, is a set of Banks Big Hoss CNC cylinder heads. The valves are controlled with a custom camshaft profile.

Probably the most unique aspects of the engine is the 4.0L twin screw supercharger that is overdriven at a ratio of 3:1. The air is directed into the cylinder heads via their unique billet intake manifold. Nitrous joins the air in the intake thanks to one of Banks multi-stage nitrous controllers. In addition to the nitrous, water water-methanol is, also, added to the mix.

Wes Anderson, who will be piloting the dragster, has a good amount of time behind the wheel of this dragster as it is an updated version of their earlier twin turbo Sidewinder they ran a few years ago.

All of this yeilds an estimated 1,500 horsepower. In doing their final testing and tuning before heading out to the track, Banks has started releasing some dyno videos (as seen above). We will keep out eye out for future videos with actual horsepower and torque numbers, so stay tuned.

Here is a link to their earlier version.
