This past weekend at the Street Car Shoot Out at Cecil County Dragway in Maryland, Canada’s Nick Agostino went for a wild ride during a test hit. After being eliminated in the first round of competition against Mo Hall, Agostino decided to make a test hit later on in the evening to see if he found what the issue was that he had been fighting all day long. 

The launch resulted in a strong 1.06 short time, but just after the wheels touched down past the 60-foot mark, the car kicked the tires out and Agostino went for a wild ride. Despite trying to hang on, the car got into the marbles and Agostino ended up in the far wall nose-first, spun around, and back into the wall with the driver’s door before finally coasting to a stop further down the track.

We hate to see this happen to any racer, and even more so for Agostino. As he is one of the organizers of this year’s Mickey Thompson Cup Outlaw 10.5 National Championship Series, he spends countless hours promoting the Outlaw 10.5 class to anyone willing to listen.

The car has already been dropped off at Skinny Kid Race Cars for repair, and Agostino says he’s fine other than the fact that the car has to be repaired. The Maximum Performance team is not one to rest in a situation like this, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him at the Door Wars event this coming weekend at Maryland International Raceway in the Outlaw 10.5 class if SKRC can make the needed repairs in time.

In addition, he reports that he’s already six numbers quicker than his 4.16 best pass from last season and fully expects to be in the 4.0’s this year on the 10.5W tire. We look forward to that day, Nick, and we’re glad to see that you’re OK.
