Our buddy from the U.K, Tom Armitage, and the PatVan Racing gang have been fairly quiet since the big debut of their insanely cool miniature slingshot dragster last year, but as we learned via a tip the team sent us this week, they’ve been making as much noise as ever in England of late after pluming up some giggle gas to the one-off front engine dragster.

Armitage and company debuted the home-built dragster, a small scale version of the slingshots made famous in the 1960’s, last fall, with initial performances in the 12.60 range at just over 100 miles per hour. But just as the team hinted at at the time, those kind of numbers just wouldn’t cut it out, and in the months that have followed, a nitrous oxide setup has been bolted up to give some added ‘oomph’ to the Kawasaki ZX9R powerplant, an 899cc four-stroke that in stock form delivers around 140 horsepower. The result, as you bear witness to in the video here, is a bonafide step up in the power department. The team also swapped to a more adequate rear tire to help get the power to the ground on the high-RPM launches that were otherwise causing the car to just spin in place at the drop of the green.

With the new additions, the Postman Pat 2, as it’s known, picked up two full seconds in the quarter-mile, with a new best in the 10.40’s at over 123 miles per hour. As you can see, though, it’s quite a wild ride in achieving those numbers, as the short wheelbase beast hikes the front wheels and skates all over the race track, all while being manually shifted as a Kawasaki sportbike would.

The team plans to continue tweaking on the combination in the weeks ahead with a mission of making a sub 10-second pass. Whether they’ll stop there, forge on to the eights, or begin building another off-the-wall creation is yet to be known, but we’re sure looking forward to seeing it.
