“Mr. Ed” Swearingen and his wife, Dorothy, have been at the helm of Reynolds, Georgia’s Silver Dollar Raceway for twenty years now. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of racing at the facility, you know that Mr. Ed puts on a great show with a dash of that down-home Georgia goodness baked right in.
Silver Dollar is a well-established track that is known for holding the Division Two Summit ET Finals, which draws hundreds of racers from all over the Southeast portion of the country, along with various other special events held throughout the year.
We hate to see Mr. Ed getting out of the business, as we’ve been to his track many times and had a fantastic time on each visit, but from what we understand he’s ready to retire and wants to see the track move into the hands of someone that will run it with the same kind of commitment that he and Dorothy have put into it over the years.
There have been rampant rumors that the track is closing, but nothing could be further from the truth. They plan to operate it with all scheduled events happening until a purchaser is found. We have no idea what the going price is for an established racetrack, but we sure do hope that someone steps up that’s willing to invest the same time and energy that’s made the track so successful over the years.
