Les Mayhew from NitroAmerica, who is known for his killer nostalgia drag racing videos from events around the country, happened to be at the NHRA National Open held at Mission Raceway Park and as always Mayhew knocked it out of the park.
At a Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series event, you’ll see plenty of nitro-burning, throwback machines, including Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters, Nostalgia Funny Cars, front engine A/Fuel dragsters, and more. At the National Open the Nostalgia Funny Cars were on the property, along with WDRL Pro Mods, to add even more exciting racing action.
Mayhew and the NitroAmerica crew did, as always, an outstanding job capturing the true feel of this event and the power of these cars. You get to see a run in all of its phases, from the burnout, to the launch, and the top end charge of a 5-second flopper or Pro Mod. The added bonus of seeing the Nostalgia Funny Cars making a full hit from the top end with the candles lit, running side-by-side in the 5-second zone is enough to get any diehard racer’s blood pumping. There are a few interesting editing tricks thrown in as well to really make this less a video and more a work of art.
