The almost weekly game of musical chairs in Roger Burgess’ R2B2 Racing camp continues, as Leah Pruett-LeDuc will reportedly drive the teams’ ProCare Rx Toyota Camry Funny Car at this weekends Auto Plus NHRA Nationals in Reading, Pa., as released in a statement on the R2B2 Racing Facebook page this morning.
DRAGZINE is still awaiting confirmation on the entry status of Melanie Troxel among this breaking news. Because the In-N-Out Burger livery is traditionally only run at select West Coast events, it would seem that two Funny Car entries is unlikely, although not entirely out of the question.
Pruett-LeDuc joined the formidable R2B2 camp earlier this season and was handed the keys to the former Troxel-driven RoadRage ’68 Camaro Pro Modified entry. Just two weeks ago in Charlotte, she earned her first NHRA national event win, driving the teams’ brand new twin-turbocharged Ford Mustang entry.
The up-and-coming star is no stranger to nitromethane-belching race cars. Last season, she won the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series Nostalgia Funny Car title driving the Plueger & Gyger ’71 Mustang and during her tenure with R2B2 Racing, has completed several successful test sessions in a modern nitro flopper as she works toward a full-time ride at the sport’s highest level.
We’ll have more on this story as it becomes available.
