In regards to barrier to entry, nitrous oxide presents the most affordable and arguably convenient form of power adding, but many enthusiasts are chased away by the toughest task in installing a nitrous system on their vehicles: the wiring.
Nitrous Outlet, a manufacturer of nitrous systems for everything from motorcycles to high-end sports cars and racing machines, regularly fields calls from would-be customers seeking a plug-and-play nitrous system, and while such an offering is a little easier said than done, the company set out recently to deliver the closest thing possible. What they have here at PRI is a complete wiring system that’s ready to install with your new nitrous system, right out of the box, saving customers the hassle of sourcing specific wires or having to determine what they need piece by piece.
“This kit will show up to the customer ready to rock and roll. What we’ve seen, with our customers, is that the wiring is the most labor-intensive, time-consuming part of the setup. They look at it, and they’re afraid to do it — it’s like a monster. So if we can take that mentality away and give them a more turnkey option, I think they’ll be more confident in running nitrous oxide,” says Nitrous Outlet’s Brandon Johnson.

“We want to take care of our customers from A to Z. This system ties everything together, and it keeps them from having to wrack their brain to set these systems up,” Johnson explains. “We send out hundreds of wiring diagrams every month to help guys out, and if it’s your first time doing this, it’s still a monster of a job, but we think this will really simplify things. Plus, they can use this with anyone’s system, so we see a lot of benefit in it.”
Nitrous Outlet has also been working to grow their bottle exchange program, which is intended to get old, worn, potentially unsafe nitrous bottles out of circulation to prevent any serious injuries from bottles have have been used and abused over the years. With this program, customers can get $100 credit towards a new bottle by turning in their 10-pound bottle, and $125 for a 15-pound bottle.
