The 2017 Camaro is already available on your local Chevrolet dealer’s lot, and now you can have one for the drag strip as well thanks to Five Star Race Car Bodies. This new Camaro body has gone through some serious research and development at the hands of some of the best in the industry before it hit the market. Now you can own this slick looking body for whatever you wheel at the race track.
Five Star took their time during the development process to be sure this body would be totally sorted out before it was released, according to Corey Schultz the company’s marketing manager. “The 2017 Pro Stock Camaro can meet the requirements for a variety of wheelbases. We are making a longer front clip to help with that. It’s a neat design because it’s a collaboration between some of the best chassis builders in the business. We also worked with Don Ness who helped with the design work to make sure the fit is appropriate on the chassis, and is aerodynamically superior.”
Because weight is so important in drag racing, Five Star is offering the body in three different material versions. Racers can get the body ultra-light carbon fiber that weighs about 53 pounds, standard carbon fiber that is 63 pounds, and light-weight fiberglass that is 73 pounds. Currently the body is available only through GM Racing.
The 2017 Camaro body is not just a one trick class pony according to Schultz: “This body can totally be used for other applications besides Pro Stock. It can be used for Pro Mod,Top Sportsman, radial tire cars, and whatever else the customer can dream up.”
