Having the ability to make big power at the highest levels of drag racing is key to turning on that win light. There are infinite combinations out there that will allow you to get the result you need, but trying to wade through the marsh of horsepower can be difficult. Scoggin Dickey Parts Center (SDPC) makes the task of powering your wicked-fast racecar easier with their new 540 cubic-inch F-1X-12 Procharged big-block Chevy engine.
This potent rat motor comes standard with Brodix square-port heads, T&D Shaft Rockers, Diamond Pistons, Callies crank, GRP rods, titanium valves, and is topped off with an APD alcohol blow-through carburetor. When you mix that with the F1-X Racedrive Procharger you have a motor that can generate 2,200-2,500 horsepower depending on the gearset in the blower. The engine comes complete from carburetor to oil pan, except for a starter and water pump.
Alan Bracey from SDPC is able to provide some background on why they introduced this amazing engine. “With the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster classes getting a bit out of control with qualified fields, we wanted to help the racers stay in the game. With these engines, you can’t beat the power and reliability to go down the race track and qualify everywhere they go.”
SDPC designed this engine for more than delivering big power, they thought of how well it would need to hold up as well. “This engine is built in a way that it doesn’t require a lot of maintenance. It does use aluminum rods, so we’ll want to see it back after about 100 runs to replace them, but everything else is setup to last a while. It uses a wet sump oil system, and has a small-stroke crankshaft, so the oil control is really good. Plus, the valvetrain stability of the conventional head helps too,” Bracey explains.
