Racetech is known worldwide for their race seats, as they are extremely popular for touring, rally, drift, drag, and speedway cars– even boats! At this year’s PRI Show, they are showcasing three of their brand new products; including two seats and a harness.
Brian Oleshak from Racetech tells us about their new 4119 series seat, “We had a lot of guys in road racing that wanted to do HPDE’s for husky guys, so we made this in a wide and in a wide tall and took the halo off.” It is made specifically for road racing applications, weighing in at a mere 17.2 pounds. “This would be great for Corvette guys, BMW guys, Porsche guys, [and more] that want to take their car to the track and do laps, but also want to drive it on the street, and their factory seats just aren’t cutting it because they’re sliding all over the place.”
The other new seat is Racetech’s “drag” seat, which is ideal for pro-mod, outlaw 10.5, and top sportsman drag cars. It has a 15.4-pound shell and has the same technology and back mounting hardware as all of their other full containment seats, but additionally, features the comfortable energy absorbing foam. “[The drag seat] has a removable cover so you can take the seat shell, stick in the chassis, build a cage around it, and not have to worry about welding splatter. Then, [customers] can put the cover on once they get their cage all done,” says Brian.
Aside from seats, Racetech also is releasing a new HANS-specific harness with aluminum lightweight adjusters. Brian explains, “What’s new about this is this small spring loaded latch adjuster that you can plug in right next to the cam lock, right on top of your belly, instead of having to fumble for it down outside the seat.”
